SlingMedia Going Broadcast?

by

Could the future include Broadcast for SlingMedia?

Last weekend (10/14/06) a Slingbox was used to stream an NCAA Football game to the road team’s stadium where thousands watched the otherwise unavailable, on TV, game.Dave Zatz has a link to the YouTube video shot by SlingMedia’s CEO Blake Kerkorian at the road venue:  Slinging-Scoreboard-to-Scoreboard

The 640×480 stream looks pretty good accounting for all the loss between BK’s video camera and YouTube compression. Berk’s screen is 4×3, presumably SD.

Imagine an HD Singbox for $10,000 next year to stream dozens of NCAA games to targeted audiences (ie. Alum, Students, Faculty, Staff…)?

Throw some software in for conditional access, and away you go.  🙂
